Bottlecap Jewelry

I've been having fun making necklaces out of old bottle caps this year. They are seriously fun and each one comes out different. I use scraps from old children's books for the backgrounds and old small rusty metal pieces. I throw in other small discarded things sometimes too. I finish them with epoxy and a ballchain necklace, but am also using some longer 32" chains as well.

Junk Art

I thought I would share a few of the things I was making over the last year while I was on hiatus.

Like most of us, sometimes I have too much on my plate. Too many things that need be done. Some of which, I do not want to do. When things get too crazy I have to take some time for myself. Whether it is to pray, meditate, read, go for a walk, yoga, or spur of the moment art project. Sometimes we just have to stop the juggling for a moment and do more of what makes us happy. For me this morning it was spending some time talking with one of my children who's home from college for the summer and for relishing in how blessed I am to be the mother of these children.

Changes....

I used to be faithful to my blog and I loved every second of it. I miss it. Even though I don't even know who, if anyone, read my posts. It always felt freeing for me to share my love of crafting, daily life and my inspirations.

We have relocated to Atlanta, GA and I have to say that I am loving it here. I'm more of a small town girl (preferably by the ocean) so I wasn't real sure about living in a big city.  Well, we live in the heart of the city and we have taken right to it. We can walk to great restaurants, parks, the kids schools, etc.  We've never had this before. We've always had to be in the car for long periods of time to get to places. While, yes,  the housing is more expensive, but I rarely have to put gas in my car anymore! Not to mention the peacefulness that can't be bought of not having to be stuck in the car so much.

Atlanta is artsy, open, nice, and inspiring.  Lately, I've been making jewelry out of bottlecaps, small pieces of metals, old salvaged books, and junk. They are so much fun. I will share soon.

Thanks for listening. :)

I'm Back.:)

I haven't made a blog post in a long, long while, but I'm going to get back to it! I'm re-opening my Etsy shop and am going to start doing art & craft shows again. I'm doing a show on Saturday and I'm really excited about it.

I'm going back to doing more than sewing these days and more of a variety of making things from all kinds of salvaged materials. Lately I've been making lots funky, inspirational signs and other fun paintings, along with other things using seashells and other fun things. I have a new name for my Etsy shop. It's what I originally wanted to call it, July Moon.

I made a treasury list today. I forgot how much fun they were to do! Here it is.

Who am I?

"Who am I? I'm a poet. My business? Writing. How do I live? I live.
In my happy poverty I squander, like a Prince, my poems and songs of love.
In hopes and dreams and castles-in-air, I'm a millionaire in spirit."

Rodolfo sings this in "La Boheme"

Closing my Etsy shop :(

Though it saddens me, I'm closing my Etsy shop. I used to have much more time to give to it and to my crafting and now I simply don't. I think that the lack of time for my passion of creating things is what saddens me the most. I've marked down everything 50% off and every purchase of $30 or more will receive free shipping.

I know I haven't been blogging much lately ( I miss that too). I will still be a salvager, crafter, mother, nature loving, God loving yoga girl and hope to have more time soon to share my whims and life at our house with you. I love the people that I connect with through this blog.  It is nice to know that there are so many soul sisters and kindred spirits out there.

Love and Peace,
Emily
