A girl's gotta dream...

Wishing I could have this cottage in the woods.....This is actually a fine art photograph print called Fairytale Ending. The name is perfect, huh?   I could totally imagine fixing this adorable place up and living in it happily ever after...

I think I would string these mason jar lights across the front ....

And I think I would welcome everyone at the front door with this charming hand hooked wool rug.

Well, like my almost 14 yr old daughter Elizabeth told me recently when she had hoped for a chance to meet Justin Bieber at a Selena Gomez concert
(that Twitter said he would be at)......
" A girl's gotta dream." :)

The Boho Chic Weasley Burrow...:)

OK, so my family and I are all complete Harry Potter dorks. Most of us have all read the books several times. We are all sad, yet excited to see the release of the last movie (which we will see tonight or tomorrow).;)  The books and the movies will continue on and on I know,  for many new young and old readers to fall in love with.
Me, having a passion for decorating my home with flea market and recycled finds has totally loved watching what the set designers did with the Weasley home, which in the book is fondly called the Burrow. The Weasley family had a lot of kids (more than my mere 4) and were always on a tight budget.  Their home and clothing all had that boho, eclectic, gypsy, flea market, handmade feel to it...and I found a kindred spirit in a fictional character. Completely sounds dorky, but it is true.
Here's a few photos from their home in the movie...

Like my own family, much of their time was spent as a family around the dinner table.

This next photo is a miniature that I believe someone did of Ron's room. You see, their are even bigger Harry Potter dorks than me out there.;)
I even found a link to Harry Potter inspired decorating ideas. Scroll down and you can read how to the Weasley look for your home..... Have a beautiful weekend!

Another year gone by...

Yesterday morning I was happily surprised to receive these beautiful flowers that my oldest daughter, Madeline sent me. It was my 39th birthday. Ick. Next year will be the big 40, so I feel like I need to get going on doing all of the things that I would like to do. I've started a bucket list of sorts and I will probably share some of the things that I'd like to accomplish on my blog soon.

It really was a beautiful day. I had many sweet cards, calls, a few lovely gifts, and the flowers. My son Robbie and I spent the day at the beach and for dinner my husband made me fried shrimp which is one of my favorites. Funny really, because seafood is the only "meat" that I eat. I made myself a coconut cake. Sad, but true. It looked pretty pitiful, but it was delicious.

Here's some more photos of my beautiful flowers....It is going to be a beautiful year.:)

Tasha Tudor for me evoked the American Spirit.....

Tasha Tudor was my favorite childrens book illustrator. My favorite childrens book as a child was The Secret Garden, of which my copy was illustrated by her. The copy of Twas the Night Before Christmas that my father read to my brother, sister, and I each Christmas Eve was filled with her beautiful illustrations as well. I'll probably be mentioning her and sharing neat stuff about her illustrations, books, and her very cool life style from time to time and with Independence Day being upon us I thought  it would be fitting to share some pictures of her at her home along with a few of her illustrations. She passed away a few years ago and I'm sorry that I never had the privilege of knowing her, but for me, she seemed to totally evoke a beautiful American spirit.
The illustration at the top is from this book of hers that I love so much.

Here's some cool pictures of Tasha Tudor at her home in New England.....

If you aren't yet familiar with Tasha Tudor, I hope that she will one day inspire you in the way that she has inspired me.

Happy Independence Day!
