Another year gone by...

Yesterday morning I was happily surprised to receive these beautiful flowers that my oldest daughter, Madeline sent me. It was my 39th birthday. Ick. Next year will be the big 40, so I feel like I need to get going on doing all of the things that I would like to do. I've started a bucket list of sorts and I will probably share some of the things that I'd like to accomplish on my blog soon.

It really was a beautiful day. I had many sweet cards, calls, a few lovely gifts, and the flowers. My son Robbie and I spent the day at the beach and for dinner my husband made me fried shrimp which is one of my favorites. Funny really, because seafood is the only "meat" that I eat. I made myself a coconut cake. Sad, but true. It looked pretty pitiful, but it was delicious.

Here's some more photos of my beautiful flowers....It is going to be a beautiful year.:)

Tasha Tudor for me evoked the American Spirit.....

Tasha Tudor was my favorite childrens book illustrator. My favorite childrens book as a child was The Secret Garden, of which my copy was illustrated by her. The copy of Twas the Night Before Christmas that my father read to my brother, sister, and I each Christmas Eve was filled with her beautiful illustrations as well. I'll probably be mentioning her and sharing neat stuff about her illustrations, books, and her very cool life style from time to time and with Independence Day being upon us I thought  it would be fitting to share some pictures of her at her home along with a few of her illustrations. She passed away a few years ago and I'm sorry that I never had the privilege of knowing her, but for me, she seemed to totally evoke a beautiful American spirit.
The illustration at the top is from this book of hers that I love so much.
Mary Lenox before she finds The Secret Garden...

Here's some cool pictures of Tasha Tudor at her home in New England.....

If you aren't yet familiar with Tasha Tudor, I hope that she will one day inspire you in the way that she has inspired me.

Happy Independence Day!

Backyard Collard Greens...

When we were in Georgia last week, my Mymommy's  (which is what I call my Grandmother) next door neighbor gave me some collard greens from his backyard garden. They were beautiful. We ate them last night. :) So happy that our children (all but Madeline, that is) loves greens. Any kind, collards, kale, mustard, turnips....

We also had a delicious squash casserole, baked sweet potatoes, and grit cakes. Wish the picture would have turned out better.

Tonight we are having enchiladas stuffed with grilled sweet red, yellow, and green peppers, mushrooms, onions, spinach and avocados.

Well...I've got so much to do today to catch up from being out of town... I need to get to it!

Have a beautiful Monday and a wonderful week!!!

My sweet Etsian friend Kelly Thomas of  Simply Worn  made mention of me in her new blog along with some wonderful Etsian artisans. I felt honored to be included among them. Kelly is one of the many kindred spirit friends that I've met through Etsy. She is always so encouraging and uplifting, not to mention inspiring.

I want to share with you some of Kelly's wonderful creations so you will all be amazed and inspired by her talent and ideas and fall in love with her shop as I have.
